Companies are using video more and more to tell their brand story. According to CMI’s research, 80% of B2B companies are using some sort of video in their content. We know videos can drive action–75% of senior execs watch work-related videos, then conduct research to find solutions after watching a video.
Here’s 3 big reasons niche magazines should be creating video content to share with their readers. (There’s really no excuse not to!)
Video is growing fast, fast, fast. Online video audiences are constantly on the rise and are expected to at least double to 1.5 billion people by 2016. Plus, video content is more likely to be watched and shared than most other kinds of content.
Video is getting a whole lot easier. No longer tools reserved just for professional filmmakers, the latest video creation apps and technology allow all levels of video creators to get the look they want. Heck, you can even use the camera on your smartphone.
- Speed and Length: Videos can be shorter, faster and still be effective, as in Instagram (15 sec max) and Vine (6 sec max.)
- Style: Videos can easily be created in slow-motion (poetic) or hyper-motion (arty). Either way it’s cool. You can create videos with time-lapse options like light to dark, color-correct tools and more. Yep, an iphone could do it.
- Angle: Go aerial! Drone on and up. Need we say more?
Video can be powerful. Whether you are a multi-brand media company or one small niche magazine, you can also explore the emotional hook. Businesses are gaining significant viewership by creating videos to do good, support worthy causes and embrace social change.
If your video strategy is still an occasional instructional video sponsored by one of your vendors, you are missing a BIG opportunity to get your brand and mission out to your niche readers and even larger audiences. Now more than ever, you can use video content to tell your story in a creative, cost-effective and compelling way.
